Carola served in both the Clinton and Obama administrations, with positions in the White House, State, Commerce and the Office of the US Trade Representative. From 2002-2009, she worked at CSIS, the DC-based think tank, where she served as chief of staff and senior fellow. In 2012, she successfully stood up an independent non-profit, the US-China Strong Foundation, focused on US-China educational exchange. She later spent two years as a lobbyist, helping BGR Group build its China practice. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Government from Wesleyan University, Carola pursued a Master of Arts in Chinese Studies from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. She is a member of the National Committee on US-China Relations. A native Washingtonian, Carola resides in D.C. with her two teenage sons.
