Washington, DC StudioSummer 2020

JOPIK

Welcome | 欢迎 | Bienvenidos

StudioSummer at Whittle School & Studios offers experiences for children ages 3 - 12, grounded in our core mission: to offer a summer experience with diverse learning experiences that are global in reach and which allow children to stretch the boundaries of their knowledge and skills, take intellectual risks to reach their potential, and connect in meaningful ways with other children and encouraging adults.

To support a variety of learning styles and summer schedules, we offer weekly programs in language immersion and specialty camps. Both camps are offered on a weekly basis and students may enroll in more than one week throughout the summer. Children can follow a full-day immersion track or take language immersion in the morning and a specialty selection in the afternoon. Pick a favorite, or mix-and-match for the ultimate summer your child will talk about all year long!

What sets StudioSummer apart?

➤    Immersive Language Tracks

Language immersion is not about teaching Spanish or Chinese as much as it is about teaching IN Chinese or Spanish. Our immersion program for children ages 3 to 12 is designed to introduce basic words, phrases, and expressions used in Chinese or Spanish. StudioSummer staff differentiate instruction to accommodate learners at different levels in their learning journey.

➤    Culinary Arts & Specialty Studio Workshops

Our signature Culinary Arts program for children ages 6 – 12 brings the exciting world of cooking and baking to the Whittle campus. From bread baking and pasta making to delightful desserts and our very own Iron-Chef-inspired food competition, students will immerse themselves in the smells, sounds, tastes, and textures of the kitchen. Specialty Studio Workshops expand the experience with workshops in Design & Engineering, Global Arts, Sports & Wellness, and STEM.

➤    City Excursion Week

At StudioSummer we believe that great learning can take place out in the world, where children learn when using all their senses. During City Excursion Week, students will travel across the Washington, DC metropolitan area and learn in a hands-on way about a single topic. This summer the topic is Architecture and Building, where students will visit iconic landmarks and architectural structures.
